Yolanda Hunt appointed to Board of Directors for Girls Empowerment Network

The Town Lake (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated congratulates its member, Yolanda Hunt, on her appointment to the Board of Directors at Girls Empowerment Network for a three-year term starting September 1, 2021.  Girls Empowerment's mission is to ignite the power in girls by teaching them the skills to thrive and believe in their ability to be unstoppable.  They help girls in 3rd-12th grades discover they are powerful. Austin ISD Names Dr. Gloria Williams Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services

Congratulations to Dr. Gloria Williams on her recent appointment as assistant superintendent of student support services, effective March 8, 2021.  Dr. Williams will lead the district’s educational support services, including after-school and evening programs, tutoring, and on-site childcare in safe and structured learning environments, as well as enrichment and special services for refugees, students who are homebound or experiencing homelessness, and adults learning ESL.  “We are fortunate to call upon Dr. Williams’ long-standing educational leadership and deeply rooted community work to strengthen AISD’s support services for all of our students,” Dr. Anthony Mays, chief school leadership officer said. “Dr. Williams leads with equity in mind, spearheading a contemporary and intentional partnership approach [...]

Announcing The Town Lake (TX) Chapter 2021 Scholarship Application

The Town Lake (TX) Chapter awards a $20,000 scholarship ($5,000/year) to a graduating African American High School Senior from an accredited high school in the Austin metropolitan area.  The Town Lake (TX) Chapter will review applications from African American high school seniors attending a university or college in the Summer or Fall of 2021.  Applicants must meet the following criteria. Be in the top quartile of class rank (3.0 GPA or higher) Be graduating under the Recommended High School Plan Be involved in extra-curricular activities Financial need is considered Relatives of The Links, Incorporated are ineligible to participate as a candidate for the scholarship All applicants need to disclose if they are [...]

Recently, the Town Lake (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated presented the Central Texas Food Bank with a $10,000 donation, which was matched by other Food Bank donors and increased our impact to $40,000. Your support makes our community service possible in the greater Austin metropolitan area, and as we close out the year, we are grateful for our donors, who enabled the Town Lake (TX) Chapter in 2020 to donate a total of $30,000 to the Central Texas Food Bank, provide $20,000 in college scholarships, and donate more than $15,000 in COVID relief [...]
