Mardi Gras is the signature fundraising event of The Town Lake (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. In March 2023, more than 150 guests gathered for Mardi Gras at The Mansion. In 2024, the Austin PBS KLRU-TV Media Center will host the festivities at 6101 Highland Campus Drive, Bldg. 3000, Austin, TX 78752.  

This experience will be like no other; we are transitioning from an evening party to a Jazz Brunch, with entertainment and excitement throughout the event. You’ll be able to not only try your luck at winning fabulous prizes but also do so while supporting the following transformational programs that target the underserved within the Austin Community.

• SCHOLARSHIPS – A $20,000 college scholarship awarded to a deserving African American college-bound high school senior. Annual $2500 scholarships to students at ACC to support nontraditional students and $2500 to support students at Huston-Tillotson University (Austin’s HBCU).

• EMPOWERING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES – Provide programming to the Austin community, particularly students at Texas Empowerment Academy and Bertha Sadler Means Middle School, that promotes health education and a healthy lifestyle.  Partnered with Baxter International to raise awareness about kidney health.  Developed a curriculum for students around healthy eating and gardening.  Co-host The Black Family Wellness Expo, where community members can get blood pressure and breast cancer screenings, attend workshops on mental health and mindfulness, participate in different types of exercise, and so much more.

• GET OUT THE VOTE – Civic engagement program encouraging community members not only to register to vote but to cast their vote with the support and training of our members and other community partners.

• CENTRAL TEXAS FOOD BANK PARTNERSHIP – Donation of at least $12,500 annually to help address food insecurities of children and their families during weekends and school breaks.
